We believe that children learn best in a nurturing, structured environment where both languages and cultures are valued. We continue to emphasize daily use of Japanese alongside strong English instruction to help students develop true bilingual and biliterate competence over time. Our program values learning experiences that are challenging yet supportive, encouraging students to think deeply, express themselves clearly, and take appropriate risks in their learning.
Learning at JASD is holistic. Academic growth is integrated with social-emotional development, cultural understanding, and character building, so that children become not only strong students but also considerate community members. Our school believes that experiencing many different activities, projects, and performances—and being appropriately challenged—is essential to raising cultured, independent, and confident thinkers.
