For the K-5 Elementary School program, our educational goals are:
- To nurture motivated and curious children who enjoy learning and exploring new ideas.
- To raise kind and sympathetic children who care about others and contribute positively to their community.
- To develop strong and independent children who take ownership of their learning and daily responsibilities.
Language and Academic Goals:
- To attain bilingualism and biliteracy so students can freely and fluidly use Japanese and English in speaking, reading, and writing.
- To build strong academic foundations in core subjects, preparing students for success in middle school and beyond.
- To promote independent, confident, and motivated thinkers and learners who can question, analyze, and solve problems.
- To help students become global citizens by deepening understanding of multiple cultures and traditions, beginning with Japanese and American cultures.
Through this integrated approach, many JASD students graduate with confidence in both languages and with the academic skills and mindset needed to thrive in future learning.
