Annual Highlights

  • Field Day 運動会  (Undokai) – October
Families gather at a local park to enjoy a day of energetic games and friendly competition. This event is usually held at the beginning of the school year and serves as a fun opportunity for parents to meet other families and begin building a vibrant community with their children’s classmates. Children and families participate in classic Japanese field day games, relays, and activities designed to foster sportsmanship and teamwork.
  • Holiday Performance – December
At the end of December, before winter break, students showcase their talents in a holiday performance featuring songs, dances, and musical instruments. This celebration invites family and friends to experience the joy and progress their children have made, while students gain confidence performing on stage.
  • End-of-School-Year Performance – May
The final event of the school year includes fun performances, playful skits, and a ceremony to celebrate children promoting into kindergarten. Graduating students receive recognition for completing their preschool journey, and all children participate in a closing play and musical program that highlights their achievements and growth.

Community Engagement

In addition to school-hosted events, our children are regularly invited to participate in these events, students perform songs and dances they have been practicing, proudly sharing our appreciation of Japanese culture with the broader community. These opportunities allow children to build confidence, display teamwork, and strengthen connections outside the classroom.

Tsumiki Preschool’s event calendar is designed to help every child shine—on stage, in community, and within their group of friends—while deepening understanding of 日本語  and Japanese traditions year-roundvarious community gatherings, festivals, and cultural events throughout San Diego.
