Our Curriculum<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Each class receives age-appropriate materials focusing not only on academic fundamentals but also on basic daily routines and self-help skills. We promote independence in task performance and cooperative peer play throughout our curriculum.<\/p>\n

  • Language\/Reading<\/b>: Group conversation, books, vocabulary expansion, letter recognition, and sound-letter associations<\/li>\n
  • Music<\/b>: Singing, dancing, rhythm instruments, finger play, and rhythmic movement<\/li>\n
  • Social Studies<\/b>: Learning about families, people of different cultures, maps, holidays, and developing social skills through interactive play<\/li>\n
  • Art and Craft<\/b>: Experimenting with different art media and materials, with emphasis on proper use of scissors, crayons, paint, glue, and other tools for both structured and creative projects<\/li>\n
  • Math<\/b>: Learning numbers, size, shapes, counting, colors, color mixing, and calendar skills<\/li>\n
  • Science<\/b>: Exploring through the senses, learning about earth, plants, seasons, animals, and insects through themes that follow the seasons, holidays, and cultural events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    At Tsumiki Preschool, we celebrate both Japanese and American traditions throughout the year, providing children with a rich multicultural experience:<\/p>\n

    • September<\/b>: Jugoya (full moon) celebration<\/li>\n
    • October<\/b>: Pumpkin patch field trip, Undo-kai (field day), Halloween party<\/li>\n

    • December<\/b>: Holiday performance<\/li>\n
    • January<\/b>: New Year & Mochi pounding festival<\/li>\n
    • February<\/b>: Setsubun (bean throwing)<\/li>\n
    • March<\/b>: Girls’ Day Hinamatsuri celebration, Cherry Blossom Festival performance (Balboa Park)<\/li>\n
    • April<\/b>: Senior appreciation performance (San Diego Keiro-kai)<\/li>\n
    • May<\/b>: Boys’ Day Kodomonohi celebration, Graduation ceremony & end-of-the-year performance<\/li>\n
